Tired eyes are caused by stress, lack of sleep, starring at a computer monitor too long, unhealthy eating habits, smoking, aging and hormonal changes. Makeup on tired eyes can help you look your best even if you don’t feel so.
Makeup Preparation
Before makeup, reduce swelling by dipping two cotton balls in cold milk. Let them sit on eyes for 10 minutes. Cold milk cools down the skin, reduces puffiness and prevents water retention in area.
Wash your face.
Drop 1-2 drops of hyaluronic acid eye drops in each eye to moisten the surface of the eyes (cornea and conjuctiva) in a similar way to the body’s own tear fluid. Hyaluronic acid forms a clear, long lasting protective film on the surface of the eye. Redness and the often typical irritating feeling of grittiness disappear, leaving the eyes refreshed.
Prep and prime your face as usual.
Makeup for Tired Eyes
Apply foundation all over your face and to the under eye area.
Cover dark circles with a peachy or yellow based concealer. Do not use a blue toned concealer because this will highlight under eye circles.
Use beige eyeliner on the waterline of the eye.
Apply beige eye shadow on the upper lid and just below the brows to open your eyes and on the inner corner of the eye.
Avoid using any blue, purple or violet shadows. Eye shadows with a blue base will give you “raccoon eyes”, so go for warmer shadows and earthy browns.
Extend eye shadow beyond the outer corner of your eyes. This trick will lift up the eye area.
Go light on your eye makeup to avoid drawing attention to the area. Skip heavy eyeliner and lots of mascara and play up with bright colors on your lips instead.
